One with the pretty men. And one with my zodiac signs I illustrated this year. This one is ready to print and ship, and will be in the shop by the end of the week. I will be using Canal Papers again, because it is just too damn lovely. These babies go by 28$, and measure 9x10".

I just noticed that I had mentioned re-looking the website in a post, last March. Yes, as in five months ago. Still, it is up now, and I am beyond happy with it. I'm still in the honeymoon phase and cannot stop looking at it and playing with all the links. :)

Doesn't today / this week feel so right? We are going towards springy weather, at last. This is such a fun time of the year...we dress too lightly and get sick, the blossoms are near, we have more daylight at night...

On that printanière note, im happy to be featured on NEET mag's blog with my collaboration with my friend Noémiah. The lookbook of her spring collection was SO MUCH FUN to work on. True change from my usual work and refreshing colours to work with in the dead of winter. Im taking this opportunity to also introduce to you Pascaline Floch, the model and another new friend of mine, who is an illustrator too! Her quirky work breaks my heart! Oh Allo. Its been about a decade since my last post. Just letting *the two last person oh earth* that dont know about Smart Design Mart (and yes, you should be terribly ashamed because you are not part of the cool kids.) That YEAH! Avy in the Fall

This has been a long time coming. I actually cannot really beleive that i still liked this drawing enough to finish it. I sketched it out first in august 2008. (yep... you read right, august, 2 thousand HEIGHT) When i met my friend Avy for the first time. I have drawn her a couple times since, but I remember her posing for me for this illustration, holding a nectarine! Then i waited about a year to start colouring it. Anyways.... i have had to come up with a couple of images that are more "set up" in terms of situations, lifestyle evoquing... and this image seemed quite à propos. First of all, drawing Avy is aways great because she is mad cute. And also, i have been missing my friend Geneviève a bit more poignantly lately, and this is set in London, in the part of town she lived in when i visited her last, close to Lavender Hill. (is that even right? Victoria train station....)

Anyways, hope you enjoy it, in the end!

HEY LOOK! its ME! Thank you to all of you who made your way through the hip crouds in St-Micheal's Church this week end and came and said hi. I loved my first Puces Pop and hopefully will be participating again! I'll defenelty be looking into more craft fairs, they are so awsome and being part of it is seriously too cool for school. You get a sneak peek of my calendar over there on the table. I will be up on Etsy next week. As well as some small prints that are shown here too, 6x8 on canson paper, that go for 8$. So i respected most of my original thumbnails' ideas, exept for April actually... dont know what i was thinking, just the feet.... And I managed to give all the "girls" their Birth Stones haircolour as i had in mind! (And included all the month's flowers too.) It was a pretty cool challenge actually, and it satisfied my craves of radical hair dyes! My hair has been natural for over 2 years now... and i guess this was slightly therapeutic too. Thanks a lot for every body who has commented over this project, im very happy about the look of it, and cant wait to see it as a final product. :D

BAH. October was hard. Its my very very most favorite month of the year, and i guess that put some pressure on my shoulders. (pressure? stress? what is it... i dont actually know those words.) Still, i managed to make something out of it. It does not stand out, or breath love like i wish it would... but i'll settle for that, and move on to the remaining months. I love marrygold flowers, and i also put in this lovely scarf, that i bought yesterday at Zara. Two of my best friends have pet rabits, and i guess it made my heart go all fuzzy and buy it. (yeah, pet rabits, go figure.)

Is anybody as nuts as i am about halloween? Im glad i had a good costume idea last week. Now its all in the making it happen! I've also prepared two little postcard images to bring along at Puces Pop. Did I mention i will be a part of this fall's edition of the fair? It is *quite* exiting. Lots of friends are already part of it and it will be pretty fun i think. :) A lot of work though!

The illustration with the girl and the white hair is from last year's halloween. But i still like it a lot. The other one is a self portrait. I drew this for my bio-picture for Merure3. I'd like to take this chance to invite all of you that are in Montreal on October 7th to swing by the launch! Editions Machine-Machine are really awsome people. (Check out their blog for infos about all awsomeness they are about.) Merure is a comic book collective that brings together a bunch of real talented folks, i feel very fortunate to be part of the third volume. Here's an epic preview of the third book:

Let me tell you that "Bloodstone" is not an easy one to transpose into a hair colour...

For some pretty obscure reason, the march girl reminds me of Elsie Martin, a ex-VJ from Musique Plus...She seems to be hard to find on the internet, now lives in London, with music band called Phantom. Which is *also* hard to find on the internet since a lot from Phantom of the Opera comes up too...Well. You know who i'm talking about. I love her new look, though i really adored the way she looked back in the days, Monrow piercing, way earlier then the trend of peircings, period. Pretty black, straigh-as-hell hair. Now that i think about it she defenetly looks half-asian.

Anyways, i cannot really tell you what i think about their music, i havent paid much attention to it yet. What i can tell you is that i recently fell in love with Matt & Kim (equally with both). It seems pretty stupid that i did not know about them until now. (!!) Their music is pretty much all i want in my ears. I adore their aesthetic, and packaging, and the general vibe and energy that comes out of their Super-Brooklyn songs. So far i just love their album "Grand" and am exited for a new one to come out soon, and their show in Mtl in the fall. Maybe i'll go! (twitter.com/mattandkim)

If you dont know about her yet, you should. I love / adore the work of the talented young lady Edith Lebeau. She is a friend of a friend, and we recently met when i posed with my dear companion Constance for her. It was a pretty cool encounter, she is a sweet pea, in addition to all that talent...here is some of my favorite paintings from her, over the last years. And lastly the sketch of Constance and me, for a painting she is working on. I am beyond existed to see the final look, obviously, and quite amazed at how good it looks. (I look *so* pretty its very flattering. Constance feels just the same.)

I'm kind of falling back on schedule. This calendar project will be intense, as i need to finish all 12 months before mid-septembre. I know. Nuts. Still, so far i like what i got so it's motivating. Here's a video of a live performance from Joseph Arthur. (I seriously got through year 16-17 with Joseph...Though he does not know it.) This song is good from the album too, but i could only find live versions, this is at Sala Rosa here in Montreal.

Edit: My friend Noémie suggested i pump up the volume on the glasses. À la Denis Gagnon kind of thing. I think its a good idea. Yeah for friends. Sam also gave me some good ideas about the layout for the "days" part of the calender. I'm also going brainstorm with Janick about fonts soon. She is a very talented graphic designer. I always feel like it works best to listen to people's input.

Here's my line art for the month of September. I figured i'd do that one since september is coming our way! (Though i'll have to make ALL months soon anyways!) Lots of my favorite things in this one; espresso, pretty cup, big glasses (inspiration here, loved that movie I saw yesterday), crips white shirt...tucked in jeans, funky assimetrical haircut, and also some hand made silver jewelery.

The ring from the drawing is inspired from this one, made by my friend Melanie Favreau. She sales her creations on Etsy, and Supermarket (which i'll be joining this week too!! more about that soon.)

Working on my calendar! About time. I'll end up having to hurry, while i was *so* zealous for starting the project in January...Oh well.

I quite like this month, you can easily tell I love winter. The colour of her hair, (should i say crazy-question-mark-mane-?) is more or less the colour of Garnet, birthstone of January. It reminds me of that pretty woman's hair. January's flower is carnation, one of my favorites, hense the earing, and lastly, the tiny bit of scarf you can see is Emilio Pucci. Well, while is is STILL summertime, Id like to invite all Montrealers who are wondering what to do this week end, to "Le Grand Débarras". Cool street fair in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. (On Saite-Catherine st, between Bourbonnière and Viau.) There is a lot of cool artisans, and eco-designs, and my friend Noémiah has a booth on the corner of Bennett Ave! Maybe I'll see you there. :D

Deco-Madness---Bedroom2

Well, well.... Here i am again, not decided about how to go at it about my bedroom. :) I am not sure anymore about the poms. I have not ordered them yet. I just dont know. I feel like it might look a little crouded in there. The place is *small*. I found those big domino pieces today. (they're each about 8"x4") on Etsy, while i was looking for vintage wood numbers. I had this idea of using a bunch of them over my bed. The over-the-bed-painting thingy is sooooo money-shot and kind of pressuring, i guess. (hu-hum, Sam & Caro. Many recent discussions about that with them. And also flaterring comission requests...so i will be working on big paintings later this fall. :D)

Still. I feel like i dont have the budget to purchase what i want for that specific spot yet (and for a while). The dominos could have an effect of grandeur? Is is just me?

An illustration i worked on over the week. A portrait of dear friends Samantha (Boum) and Caroline (Cab). It will probably end up being a postcard, part of a set of 4, that i'll be selling soon. :)

For some reason, the new illu really reminds me of that old one from 2008 (2007?). I guess its the mood.

If you are lucky enough to have one near you, enjoy some Pinkberry for me. (green tea flavor, represent!) Otherwise, go for bubble tea!? Iced Coffee-Milk-Tea with pearls is one of my favorites.

A wall in my kitchen

The hallway from my bedroom to the rest of the place. (though it does feel like the three rooms are just squished into one another.)

I wanted to share some pictures of my new house. Especially to brag about some of my birthday gifts from dear friends, that added a nice touch to the decor i already had in mind. I was spoiled by Sam and Caro with glasses, cups, tea party accessories and wall stencils..but havent gotten around to those yet. I will. :)

I was so touched when i received this Rob Ryan hand made ceramic tile (5) from my friend Geneviève. It came in the mail from his Etsy shop, and seriously, the attention and loving put into the package made me feel like my friend had wrapped it herself. I've also started to put some plates up on a wall. Something i've wanted to do for quite a while now. The Moustache embroidery is a gift from talented friend Janick at Nea. The cutesy little ceramic tea pot and the bird plate (2) are also from Geneviève. I decided to hang up this portrait of my friend (1) that i did for my art show at HeadQuaters in the spring. I still like it a lot after a while, that is rare. One of my favorite things in the new place is my little dog-butts hooks in my hallway. (4) They seriously make me smile everyday.

Im exited about an art swap im going to work on soon with Sam. And the one i am working on NOW with Janick. I'll be posting about that soon. I am also thinking about making this blog bilingual, I have to find the patience in me to write it in French and in English. I know this is something important that I should have done a long time ago... In the meantime, here is a colour palette of something im working on now. I actually got inspiration from the colours of my house. And a little pic from my vacations. I did not really take much pictures. I think it was part of the do-nothing-and-relax deal. Does not matter to me.

Someone told me recently that i had not been posting regularely enough on the blog. :) So here it is... Since i dont have much interesting to post in terms of new art, or gotten around to deciding on good vacation pics...or drawn at all while at the beach.... im going to give a little preview of the children book i worked on in Mai and June. It is the third book of a serie and is titled "Pierre et les voyous". It's going to come out under Planète Rebelle at the end of August. I'll make an announcement when the book lounch nears, in case people feel like coming. Enjoy summer!

Déco Madness--- Bedroom-help needed

Im asking into the internet void, your opinion. About my Party Pom purchase. I want to buy 3 of those fluffy eye candy things to have hanging over my bedhead. A little like a grown up mobile...So here is what i have in terms of bedroom decoration going on. I also bought this super pretty hand printed fabric (from Sarah Waterhouse on Etsy) to frame over the bed. The actual frame is the same "wood finish" as the furniture you see on the left of the picture.

So that is my idea of the colours i would pic, naturaly (called: Brown, Khaki and Cool Grey)...But i just wanted to have other people's opinion. Before i purchase them. And attemp to make this look as good as i envision it. :) And down here is some other colours that i think could look good, but are a little bit more "risky" to me (Wheat, Harvest Gold, Kraft-I think...and Light Pink).

Let me know also, if you *feel* like it, you could go check ALL the other colours in Nai's Shop and see if others would look better according to you. Who doesnt like to waste some time on the internet looking at some prettyfull puffed up tissue paper flowers? Keep in mind though, that the blue and green walls are already quite overwhelming to me, so i'm trying to keep things on the neutral side.

And, another one. Oh Summer! It's very warm here in Montreal. But it doesnt feel *as* humid as it could grossely be. My Appartment is coming up good. Im having friends over at the end of the week. For a sort of early birthday gathering, housewarming thing. Hopefully everything will be under control. And then its VACATION time! So looking foward to that. So here's a little marine inspired look. Here's a new painting i had been working on this week. I'm pretty happy with the result. The colours look very fresh and summery and remind me of grapefruit and lemon Gelatto. *I seriously wish i was in Italy at the moment*. Its a portrait of my friend Sam. Her hair is not that long on the side, but i'm pretty sure she'll forgive me for that.

Exactly two years ago i was comming back from a month in Italy and England. I feel like posting some pictures of that, just because im feeling a little nostalgic of the Gelatto, seafood, and flowers. Im leaving for Virginia next week, to go soak up some sun, salty water and waves. (read: seafood and icecream) I guess this is the closest thing to Italy, right? I'll be posting some pictures of that, and also my travel sketchbook, when i return. In the meantime, some risoto, vespas, and a much smaller, more tanned, already looking sort of young - me.

Today i hung out with Noémie-from Noémiah Bijoux, to get this cool display up for the Boutique Unicorn here in montreal. This boutique is SO nice. Flawless local designer pieces in a cool black and white aesthetic. Perfect. This special ostrich-feather collection will be comming up to purchase on Noemiah's Etsy, before the end of June.

Here's the colour thumbnails for the three summer months in my 11' calendar. I'm not as sure of what i have in mind for those, compared to how positive i felt about January or May. I do want them to look nice together, thats why i intend to keep at them progressively and at the same time. Summer does feel like a whirlwind of one-warm-month....doesnt it? Anyways, i'll have some time to think about it since i'm too busy to actually get the final versions of those done any time soon. I knew i was going to end up stressed out in time about this calender project, even if i started soooo early in the year. Idealy, i want to have them done and printed for about october. Sounds nuts?

Hey, it occured to me yesterday, since i was actually asked, that maybe people were currious to know what dog breeds are the dogs i've been drawing. No surprise for anybody that im doggy obsessed this year. And that i've been looking at breeds a lot before coming to a decision with Constance.

So here it is....

--Fritz, that i just drew, is a long hair chihuahua.

--Roger is an english bulldog.

--Clémentine was a mini daschund with smooth (short) coat.

And my Constance, is a black pug x apricot-fawn pug mix.

I feel like her illustration is not as realistic as the other ones, well no, she is not crimson. But i know i'll be drawing that little brat again, so no worries.

in the mean time, she says she's ok with the portraits of her so far. She was a little sick yesterday, but seems to be doing better already.

Another one in the Girl&Dog serie, but this one needs a little more blah-bla-ing...

First of all, thanks to pretty Iljee Moon, my dear, dear friend. Maybe some of you have heard me talk about her lots...my one and only asian friend. (And Iljee is quite a jealous little-one and insists that she remains my one asian friend. I know for sure i am her one and only canadian friend. )

We met when i lived in New York, and now she is moving back to Korea. But i thrust our friendship. (and shared love for Pinkberry, kimchi, noodle soop and fashion, to keep us close.)

Since she works in the fashion industry, i put more attention to brands and fashiony details in this one. I wanted to do her justice, she has such flawless taste. So here's a little credit: Chloé sunglasses and Mulberry handbag.

I need also, to thank Anna, from Door Sixteen (totaly addicted to her blog by the way.) She super duper kindly let me draw her handsome little Fritz. So glad i was not too shy to contact her!

Hope you're all enjoying this early summer, and i might be out a bit, since i'll be working on a children book (the sequel of this one, and this one), and moving into my new place!

Déco Madness--- Cuisine Update

I recently went to IKEA to buy this bed, and many other little things i needed for the new place. (one month till i move in!) And i shamelessly (ikea fabric pricing is in perfect relation to the way everything ikea is priced) gave in to buying this fabric, to make new kitchen curtains. Dont get me wrong, i do love the ones i have now...but they just dont fit in the new place. Not in my eye anyways...and i was tired of trying to figure out a way to work around them. I bought all black and white plates and bowls and stuff. So this is so much better, and bolder, and just awsome. (pattern by illustrator Kristine Mandsberg btw.)

The weather is so nice here these days, we can finaly wash and hang outside. (without fear of sneaky slushy snow storms...) And note that the way i have pretty pine trees in my back yard really puts emphasis on the fact that i live in Canada. :) I will enjoy my woody environment for the next 4 weeks. The future area is not as green. Sadly.

The kitchen is giving my mind even harder of a time..since pastel blue and green are NOT colours that come to my mind in terms of kitchen...at all. And, having purchased most things kitcheny in red last year, i have to go with that since i can't afford to buy all new things. Once again, im kind of counting on black to bad-assify the pastel sea shore feel.

1-- My curtains. That i sewed last summer.

2-- I am in love with my Le Creuset kettle. could not even think of having any other one, ever, and I actually probably wont need to, considering the quality of this one.

3-- Im thinking Chalkboard black paint. (from Benjamin Moore) Since there is no back splash, its not really taking anything away from that space.

4-- Awsome salt and pepper grinder from Bodum. in ONE. I need it.

5-- I want this coffee machine. But i already have a tiny one...

6-- Im thinking of hanging those prints in my kitchen, they're my favorite from lately, and its nice cause its me and my dear friend, with our puppy girls.

7-- Im going to hunt for some vintage wood letters. maybe in children toys. to paint and use them as wallwear.

8-- APrint that I want . From Eleonor at Pushmepullyou Designs.

10-- Sugar skull i got in mexico, christmas 2008.

I have to warn you, i am moving soon into a new appartment, and maybe i'm a weirdo, or maybe most people react this way...but this always triggers some sort of decorating feaver in me. I'll be posting some brainstorms, so i can have your opinion. Most of my friends read here (pas en français je m'excuse mes amis....) so it's a good way to reach them too. Especially Caro, who is almost as obsessed as i am about decoration, or maybe more, hard to tell.

1--- Hand me down mirror i have not used in this place. (Renée, if you read this and want your mirror back...show yourself, otherwise, it's mine.)

2--- I'll be stalking Jerome M (and have been for a while...) to make an art-trade with me.

3--- Dont feel like sewing curtains. And the appartment is very very bright, i think this is a good solution.

4--- I cannot make my mind, and im also thinking, maybe none of those are the right one... Im pretty sure the one with the rocks is too much for me.

5--- Heart? Wish i had enough money for this, but not.

6--- Havent decided on a bed either. Most of the coolest ones are so out of my price range. This is the best money-look compromise. How come is it that there is no cool adult-bed with drawers underneath?

7--- Constance.

8--- The appartment-the whole place- is painted in those sea shore tones. its freshly painted so i dont want to be a jerk and cover it. but i admit its been puzzleling me. I feel like this charcoal+white look might be the way to go. (i'll keep that colour range for the bathroom too.)

Good morning everybody, is it as grey where you are? Just a little announcement, i finaly put up my etsy shop. Something that has been in the air since last summer....getting around to it. I have a few items listed, and will put more gradually, but i wanted to show those two pieces off on the blog, since i like them a lot.

First of all they involved a pretty intense quest to find the actual logs...it was a tricky matter since wood dries, and i could not use bark that was not dried well, since that would meen it would dry after being painted on, and nobody could predict what that would look like. (paint chipping, bark ripping off...wood benting on itself.) So, i managed to find actual crusts of trees.. (not without great help, thanks to my dad <3, and to his friend Yves Rivard for his help) that had been sitting inside for a couple years, and oh god, where they far from home! Then, the prepping began, i'll save you the steps, but lets just say those where kind of the holy grail of the Girls of a Feather art show. The one concept that was teasing my artiste-peintre's heart...Girly paintings on real rough logs...

Here's my sketch for the month of May in my calendar.

I was trying to be oh-so clever...by combining many different projects into one single sketch.

i want to submit a wrapping paper for this year's frinton press call for entry. (and do it right this time!) And also make a spring drawing for LDH. And, obviously, colour this into my month of may page...

UH HUMMM. i just dont like the image anymore. I dont know why...but this has no mojo at all.

you know when a teeny-tiny thumbnail looks heavenly, and everything in that really too tiny image seems perfect. even the features in the face, which are clearly just hinted, seem so beautiful...only if they where bigger and better drawn....NOT.

I guess another problem was that i needed to clean it with a pen, since the frinton press image needs a black-white-no-grey-tones look. (i was then going to make it into a nice pattern....lots of work, ect. But, i dont really like the look of clean pen lines, (or messy ones in this case) compared to pensil lines. So, im kind of facing the fact that i might not use this sketch for any of those things, making this morning a total loss of time!

still, i was up early so its not a big deal. and mojo cannot happen each time. right? I'll move on to images i need to finish for this week...and just leave may for later. it'll be waiting for me in at the back of my brain i guess.

*** UPDATE***

Okay, breathing steady, and not loosing controle, i managed to make this image into the wrapping paper for frinton! Im pretty happy with this good-attitude-self-of-the-year-of-the-white-tiger. See? What a little perseverance can do?

Making a successfull repeat pattern is kind of a pain in the bum if you never-ever did it before. But i think they linked a couple how-tos on their blog, and you could defenetly start with something simple. A little something i did quickly. lunch break procrastination-in the shape of a pre-summer new portfolio piece?? Ive been kind of missing by back bob....i know, i know...it is silly. Now that my hair is FINALY on the way of being grown for real...(well, if 2 inches bellow the chin line can be called growing out of a bob.) and that i also found the courage to let it it's natural shade of rich brown. But what can i say?... we always want what we dont have? or something like that...

Well, well....what i can say is that this illu is inspired by the creations of two awsome designers from montréal, Noémie and Tamara, two girls i recently met at the girls of a feather vernissage. We are planning some really cool colaborations for the near future, so stay tuned for that...in the meantime, this is those earings from Noémiah bijoux, and that body-jewelery from This Ilk.

oh and btw, i just set up a twitter account, talk about 2 years late...but i heard about it in a more self-promoting way, and felt it could have some up-sides. so if you're already twitting, follow me there! @paule_tb

Unlike my friend Boum, I've decided not to keep my calendar-illustrations a secret, :P

I'll be posting sketches, colour studies and things like that. I like the feed back. and i think it'll make it an even nicer body of pieces in the end. Not that we dont like suspense...but i beleive that people would still want it next january anyways....will they? If people still havent gotten one for 2010...i suggest you get Boum's, it is a pretty cute serie of cartoonish-edgy pinups, and it brightens my kitchen, and kind of weirds out some of my guests, but in a good way.

In the meantime, im not sure yet if i'll print it and spiral bind it myself, or go with the deviant art format like she did. I havent totally understood their submission process, but i like the fact that they take care of the charging and shipping. BUT i dont like that i dont get to design the month pages and the format. Pros and cons, pros and cons...still plenty of time to think about it.

Anyhooo, this is January. There is a lot going on in my mind about each month, i started with occidental birth stones, and english months' flowers. Little traditions that i've never really paid attention to before, but somehow i wanted to go away from zodiac signs and things of that sort.

So i'll tell you for this one, but maybe it would be nice of you to try guessing the other ones from the sketches? The birth stone of January is Grenat/Garnet in english. I love the fact that it's name comes from latin of pomegranate...and the flower of that month is Oeillet/Carnation, which happens to be one of my favorite flowers, so i guess i'll have to see january on a different angle now, with such pretty stone and flower in mind...

i found little gregorian poems about each birthstones that were used by Tiffany and Co in the 50's...i kind of want to use them but im worried about copyright issues. i'll have to look into that....

still, here it is:

Hey, Just saying a big thanks to everyone who passed by the show last friday. You are great.

It went super well, the turn out was good and people seemed to like my art and Angie's creations a lot.

My face is a little weird but that is no big deal to me.

Those three fan-panels were my favorite, and the Purple-Shade one (closest to me in the pic) was sold so it makes me happy. Beautiful model Mosh, let me paint her for those.

I'll be going at the gallerie to take nice clean pictures of everything. I'll probably post it here. and then everything will be in an Etsy shop later this spring.

The show is up the walls until april so feel free to go check it out if you live in Montreal! The Headquaters boutique is defenetly worth the discovery too.

Since i have never put them here on the blog, now is a great time! The tags i designed for Angie Johnson's Norwegian Wood creations, to be hanged with her special collection for TopShop EDIT. (oxford circle, last september) The tags where all inspired by the clothes, accessories of Angie. And most of them came in a couple different colours. Here's a bunch of my favorites. I fell in love with that dress, in this month's ELLE Québec. It is part of a special on Québec designers.

I just love everything about this dress. The pale pink silk, the zipper details, the pleats, everything is so perfectly rafined and original at once. This is exactly the kind of dressy dress i'd wear to get married.

Then i actually heard the designer, Denis Gagnon, being interviewed on Radio-Canada première chaine. He was just as delightful as his dress.

So i could not resist googleling him and being so amazed at his creations. His style reminds me of Lanvin, and Louis Vuitton woman-wear...which are favorites of mine.

So I said i wouldnt put final stuff online...but i just did with that Connie Illustration...tsk tsk.

And im also going to show some "work in progress". (I want to keep people exited.) And to be honnest, it feels a little weird to be working hard all day and not to post anything...this blog habbit is so natural now. Finish something, post, read feedback, repeat...

These are recycled skate decks. They arent that easy to work with since they involve much more prepping then brand new ones would. (ive seen a lot of amazing art on skateboards in galeries, and i was dying to try it myself. really, i was dying.) BUT, id rather use the rolled-on ones for many different reasons, first of all they are less expensive for me, therefore will be more affordable to purchase for people. (otherwise the price would be related to buying a skateboard AND a painting for your wall...) And also i like using things that have a lot of life to them. And finaly, those were going to end up in a dumbster. (i like to think that people would have recycled them...but i doubt it. )

Thanks a trillion to my friend Caroline for posing for me.

And Miss Pearl too. (which i can draw with my eyes closed at this point.)

Btw, this portrait of her will be in the show also, as a limited edition giclée print on rice paper.

The logs are pretty much the pièce de résistance, i think. Maybe because they are quite original and painful. The work implied in getting them (many, many tribulations...) and then prepping them and working around the painter-unfriendly nature of them makes them just the more interesting.

Also to be noted, i am canadian. So logs...very dear to me.

I have failed to mention, in the last posts, that i'm curently coming up with a lot of new things, for an exibit at HeadQuaters Galerie. This very lovely space is run by a quite remarkable couple, Tyson and Angie. The same Angie i worked with over the summer for custom tags, who is the designer behing Norwegian Wood. I very-very much enjoyed working with her. Which was so confortable and fun, and its with immense pleasure that i'm pairing my art with her designs for a second time. We're putting up a show of her creations, and artworks from miss me too.

Needless to say, this is exiting.

Let's reflect a little over what we want for ourselves during the next 10 years....

Over the last 10 years, so many things happened. and i cant help but think that the next 10 will pass much faster.

I will turn 30, midway through the next decade. It is scary, but makes me wish that i would feel like more of an adult, or even more serious. (though i consider myself a quite serious person. when im not being silly.)

It makes me want to be more dedicated to whatever resolutions i should take now. during those couple weeks of january where you feel like all changes are possible again.

The last 10 years have defenelty been mostly about drawing. And i hope this is what the next 10 (and other decades) are about as well.

It was very hard (probably because i actually didnt really put any effort into it) to find some old art at hand. What makes me think that i have a very poor way at archiving what i do. at least it is the case when not work related. then i feel much more organised. but its still too bad. i couldnt find much for 2003, or older.

I think its time i challenge myself again. in different ways..i find i didnt improve that much over those last years. not as much as i though probably.

Bonjour,

Here's a little sketch i used for a funny illustration...made out of mags cut outs, and bic pen.

It was for this blog i started "Le Drawing Happening" .

I know i've mentionned it a couple times already... But it is awsome.

So many people i admire as artists are a part of it. (and a lot of dear close friends that i love too)

So i thought i wouldnt put things on both blogs...but still im posting up the sketch here cause i like it as is too.

People are gonna submit stuff about bi-monthly, so be sure to check us out!

And if you happen to be an artist, and are totally jealous and want to participate...email me! its not exclusive at all. The point is to have as much people and inspiration fire in all directions.

Hey, since i'm not going to use this design for my christmas cards...finaly, i'll post it here already.

This is it...i have officially passed on to fully nut-case-christmas-mode.

All i think of is getting my live-tree next week, and how to decorated the house...and print christmas cards and look outside at the snow. (!)

Turns out this design was, one, not really joyous enough, or me enough....and my parents both thought it has a little something "funeralesque" so i decided to make something else, more joyous, peaceful, and me. In the meentime, i've become addicted to rice pudding. (i make it myself with brown rice and all sorts of wonderful things, like chestnuts, vanilla, cocoa...) It makes the best christmasy breakfast.

I also epically failed at making a "beet pie" this past week end. but havent said my last word, in terms of deserts, me and cab spent sunday afternoon making a million cupcakes of all wonders, mine were chai-tea and cream cheeze icing. (OMG)

I'm dreaming of a white-christmas.

This is a sketch i did a couple weeks ago. I like it, but i just dont know where to go with it...does that happen to people expept me?

I was really in love with this picture. (ok i apologies, total lack of credit. i totally just got that on google image...i wont do that again. :) the colours, the lighting, the equestrianity (?), the model...all of it is just great. to me.

i dont know, i think i was missing sketching out all the details by hand. something i dont really do anymore. and i was nostalgic...but the thing is, i dont really know how to colour that thing.

ok, enough soul searching...haha.

And this is some sketches, i did for a book i'm working on. (i wont use those, they were totally out of line...but i think those lanthers, are oh so pretty...)

i drew those at Cab' s house, and by the way, i'm really stoked that she joined our art collective , that you should check out!

And while i'm at it, with the talented great people...a friend has this cutesy style blog, that i didnt know of until this week, it is a total inspiration too. She has a great sens of style, that miss Pearl. I beleive she should be an art director, or a stylist. (actually drew her before and should do that again.)

where is the snow? almost december and not one centimeter yet?? i have really nice -north face- knee high boots that are still in the box. i guess the weather has been pretty mild lately. and incredibly sunny too. im not complaning at all. i only like 'the idea' of snow i think, as soon as its on the ground and bugging me in my motricity, i hate it. (for the 8 months to come)

but right now...i could use some puffy white magic sugar on stuff.

also, i think this sort of looks like frankenstein's bride-ish...or radioactive sea.

and here what i had in mind, in terms of having the 3 together, or sort of. since this was originaly for Joel, i used his weird office wall colour as bg. :)

WOW, 2 posts in the same day? when did that ever happen??

I am aware that those images arent that complicated and skillfull..but, there is some days when you just want that quick result...and today is one like that.

this is a second image of the "octopussy" tapestry project, for my lover Joel . I will try my best not to overwrite on this one like i did the first one , flatenning my high-rez like im 18 again. I dont know if i'll actually be able to make something out of this...since so far, 50% of the stuff is 72dpi...but oh well. i felt like colouring this one. It made me think of my friend audrey (-joel, no, i dont fantisize about squid-audrey) and since she had a rough day today, i felt like thinking of her and making something out of it. so here it goes, two for one!

***is it just me or blogger makes ALL images seem much more desaturated? i always have to boost the levels and contrasts and hues and stuff, for it to look even just a little as bright as it does on my application screen....am i going crazy? what is this phenomenon...we're talking about the same computer screen.
